I am thrilled and honored to be associated with a very fine educator, Carlynn McCormick. What she shares through her written words is spot on. Please enjoy and do give her your feedback. Please reply to me if you’d like me to share more of Carlynn! Tina
Here is a little sneak preview to my readers. I am about to be in a video supporting two wonderful companies. One is a well known gluten-free company and the other is a terrific non-profit gluten-free company which raises awareness about gluten free as well as research. Besides this, I get to use anyone else in the videos I want! Audition time again. We will all be wearing these delightful home- made aprons and Danny will be on the front of them too. Some say we should sell them eventually but there is also talk about many more videos so we shall see.
To bring you up to date I need to share with you the wonderful experience I had at St Joseph’s Children Hospital of Tampa Florida along with Borders Bookstore. I arrived to an incredible group of children and some with their families by their side. These kids were “eyes wide open” as I read “Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy”, to a variety of children sitting and lying down, whatever made them comfortable. They had an upcoming fund-raiser which I donated a piece of furniture from my furniture line (Which I am no longer selling). Borders had accumulated boxfuls of books to give out to the kids along with Danny stickers and bookmarks. If you want to have Danny come to your school, hospital or library, just let us know!
I am so happy about this day. I was honored to conduct a reading and question and answer session at a school named Spring Valley in Palm Harbor, Florida. The kids loved the book and all the gifts I brought. The school was given their signed book by me, Tina Turbin. I really can say an author touches the lives of others in a very special way. I hope I inspired some “soon to be” authors in the school today. Thank you Spring Valley! Spring Valley is a Sudbury School and they base their education on trust and ability of the student to follow their inner guidance. and passions. The atmosphere at this school is evident that this is absolutely applied. The kids were calm, interested and had “natural” manners with one another. A delightful day! Thank you Diane Ballou , all educators and kids at this wonderful school.
Belated results to you from me, Danny did extremely well at the NY State Reading Association function… lots of new projects in the works as a result of the response.
Check out www.celiacwalk.org — 3/28/09 in Orlando, to support research for celiac disease. I’ll be out there with Danny t-shirts and all kinds of other promo. I hope all you fans out there can join us! Currently I’m still working a lot to finalize the research and text for my Gluten Free site.
My two puppies Bailey and Teddy graduated from their Canine Obedience class with flying colors! This is the first step to getting them to the status of “Canine Citizens,” which means they’re allowed to accompany me to schools, libraries and hospitals for book readings to children. I have an overall purpose with this: it gives me a chance to show kids how reading to their animals is a great way of improving reading abilities. It has been proven that reading aloud improves reading skills and speed.
