Children’s Book
Can’t wait for parents and kids to see this…
The update is this: still working on the illustrations – the overall design is really incredible and just marvelous – parents and kids are really going to love this! I’ve been busy on several other projects that I’m excited to have in the works, but Danny is still my top priority! I talked to my dad up in Seattle. He really sounds sad – like I’ve never heard before out of him. I hope he gets well.
So glad to have such a great illustration team
I’ve observed that the relationship between the translator, Aija and me has definitely blossomed and we’re very much a team. It is incredible to be working with such great gals! I even mentioned to Aija the possibility of meeting her one day, when I’m in Europe, however Aija keeps her business relationships strictly business, so “no-go” at this point. But that’s okay – this has still been a tremendous experience. On another note, I am so looking forward to our trip in May to Big Sur, Northern California and Oregon. I just bought my husband a van as a gift. …
I love having creative control
I have to say, it’s just so wonderful to be working with an illustrator that allows me the creative control that I desire for my story. Between the designs, colors, positioning, shapes, etc., it is definitely a treat to be working with so much freedom.
Nearly completed on the characters
Well we’ve been going back and forth quite a bit with various tweaks and changes, but we’re definitely making progress – very exciting indeed! And to think, this is all being done through a computer – haven’t ever spoken on the phone still! Still visiting my father in Seattle on and off as he is quite ill. That’s the only sad news in my life.
Danny’s face is a little too round
Uh-oh, upon closer inspection of the sketches, I’m seeing that Danny’s face has been changed a bit in the “round” department. So she is going to make some changes for me.
First draft sketches
The first draft sketches of the characters and scenes are here! Marvelous! A few changes, questions and requests and we are moving along.
Busy, busy with various projects
I’m still busy on other projects, but excitedly anticipating Aija’s first sketches!
The creative juices are flowing
Yay – the bells are going off, we’re back in touch again! I’m just not used to people losing touch with me like that. But all is well – Aija explained to me that she doesn’t start on projects until she’s 100% ready, and prior to starting, she prays daily and gives herself space until she has the full vision of how to start – and then the ideas just flow out of her from start to end. This is totally understandable. I’m giving her the space that’s needed to accomplish this. In the meantime, I’m taking this opportunity to …
Still no word from Aija
I still haven’t heard back from Aija, but I’m sure there is much happening in Latvia that I have no clue about over here in the States.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! We all deserve a little break. Off I go.
