Stevie Wonder Works toward Pro-Visually Impaired Global Copyright Laws

Children’s literacy is one of the most important issues facing us today. Fortunately, many groups, organizations, and individuals are dedicated to reversing the staggering statistics. However, as hard as people are working to get kids reading, there are some kids—such as the visually- impaired ones—who get left out. Thanks to Stevie Wonder, though, visually-impaired literacy is getting some of the attention it deserves.

Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy – LIVE on ABC News 10!

My new Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy DVD (including sign interpretation for the deaf) is quickly becoming quite popular with parents, teachers, librarians and children alike. This is a very unique video.

Sacramento’s “Moms Like Me” and Sacramento’s ABC News 10 talkshow entitled “Sacramento and Company” will feature a television segment about my DVD between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, Friday August 16th (for those who are in the Sacramento area, please tune in to your local ABC station to watch the show live). They will air a few DVD clips and are hosting a terrific give-away to 5 lucky winners, to each receive my DVD!

Danny the Dragon Supports Education for the Deaf

As an active literacy advocate, I do as much as I can to get kids reading to revert the literacy statistic of this country. However, it wasn’t until recently that I became aware of another alarming statistic—the literacy rate among deaf children.

“Congratulations” Letter from Carol Downing at Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf

I’d like to share a lovely note of congratulations (for my award nomination in the AZ Authors Association Literary Contest and as an award-winning finalist of the National Best Books Awards of 2009) from my dear friend Carol Downing, a teacher at Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf, who also provided the sign language interpretation on the Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy DVD (based off of my children’s book of the same name). I call her “Danny’s Hands.”
