A passionate advocate for celiac disease, an autoimmune disease triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye, Turbin appeared on Magnificent Menopause and Beyond to speak with co-hosts and menopause specialists Gail Edgell and Carrie Pierce about the disease, the gluten-free lifestyle, and her new eBook, “Gluten and Your Aging Body,” available for sale on the author’s non-profit website, http://www.GlutenFreeHelp.info.

Magnificent Menopause and Beyond has been picked up by a leading women’s radio station, Heartbeat Radio for Women, based in Florida with 70,000 female listeners. The station is launching Edgell and Pierces’s program with their best 10 archived shows of their choosing. The co-hosts made sure to choose both of Turbin’s radio interviews to be featured. The program has additionally been picked up by a global health website, which has placed the show’s widget, containing Turbin’s two interviews, on their site.

Magnificent Menopause and Beyond covers a wide range of topics for 40+ women and welcomes male listeners as well. Their broadcasts cover subjects such as health and nutrition, beauty, finances, sexuality, and spirituality for midlife women featuring qualified professionals in these respective fields. Edgell is an exercise physiologist, author, and trainer, and Pierce is a licensed aesthetician, author and menopause skincare expert.

Tina Turbin is best-known for her critically acclaimed illustrated children’s book, Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy, which has been honored by the iParenting Media Awards, International Book Awards, and the Mom’s Choice Awards among others. The product, which was created by iStoryTime, the iPhone app developer for DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, was featured by Apple and remains among its top recommendations.

In addition to her work as an author, Turbin is a leading gluten-free advocate whose non-profit website, http://www.GlutenFreeHelp.info, was chosen as number two out of 6.7 million registered .info websites around the world in the “Best .INFO Website Awards Program of 2010” by Afilias, the registry operator of .info. Good for you! I love your radio interviews so much. They are always so informative and even though I’m not gluten-sensitive that I know of I was inspired to dramatically reduce our family’s gluten intake and we eat a lot more whole foods and fresh fruits and veggies these days. I also talk to other people about celiac and gluten as often as I can just to get the word around in case they have gluten problems or they happen to know someone who does. Word of mouth is a powerful tool.

  2. Janet Plining says:

Wow! I’m so excited to hear the show! It’s amazing how many radio shows are actually out there and some of them are really great. I mean, they’ll cover the best topics and things you don’t hear about on mainstream radio or TV. Sounds like a great station that I’d be interested in listening to on a regular basis.

  3. Lisa Benardi says:

Bravo! That’s so great that both your shows were chosen. It’s not only a reflection of how wonderful you are on radio but also of how important the issue of a gluten free diet has become in our country. People are really getting interested in this subject! They are seeing the light finally!

  4. Yamilla Cruz says:

I remember I heard you once on the radio talking about women’s issues and I just really loved hearing the sound of your voice and all the positive things you had to say. You really are an inspiring woman! No wonder why they chose both your radio shows to be broadcasted! Plus also the gluten free diet is growing more and more popular so people are getting really interested in finding out more about it.

  5. Naomi says:

Wow this is really great news, isn’t it?!!! I have noticed that the gluten-free diet is becoming more and more popular and I actually just got a book on gluten, I think it’s called The Gluten Effect, and I’m going to read it and see about going gluten-free or at least cutting out a lot of the grains in my diet. I would LOVE to listen to these radio shows!

  6. Norma Barry says:

I heard that there is something like 18 million Americans with a sensitivity to gluten and then I heard another figure that 40% of the population may be sensitive to gluten.I don’t know what the actual figure is, but I don’t think that really matters much. What matters here is that many, many people should not be eating gluten and certainly not as much as they do. I’m so glad people are going to hear you talk about this really important issue. They have probably heard of gluten and the gluten free diet but they have no idea what it’s really about!
